Considering Growing Your Business? What You Need to Know Before You Start!

Don't Expand Your Business Before You ask Yourself These Questions!

Are You Ready to Grow Your Business?
When you start a business, you have a lot of hopes and dreams about where it will take you. You imagine things like financial security, doing something you love, and even just being your own boss.

Running your own business also comes with a lot of responsibilities. There are important decisions that need to be made concerning your business. There are the day to day tasks such as dealing with customers, overseeing inventory, invoicing, and paying bills.

But perhaps one of the most important decisions you will ever make is deciding if and when it is time to grow your business!

When it comes to growing and expanding your business, it is never wise to go in blindly. There are things you need to carefully consider before taking that step, and tips to help you if you ultimately decide to proceed.

If you get to the point where you start thinking about making that leap, then it is crucial that you take a good long look at your business first. And the best way to do that is to ask yourself some hard questions!

Before Deciding to Grow or Expand Your Business, Ask Yourself:

  • Are your existing products and services effective, or would you need to provide new ones?
  • Is your brand established?
  • Does your business have a strong and recognizable presence?

But perhaps the most important question you can ask yourself is….
Can You handle the Risks that come with Growing Your Business?

Know the Risks before You Expand Your Business! “Tweet This”

Growing your business comes with certain risks ~ if it didn’t, everyone would do it! These risks can effect both your Personal and Professional lives.

Personal Risks
It is important that you realize that in your quest to grow your business, you will not be the only one to feel the strain. Increased stress, health issues, time commitments and a seeming lack of control can all effect not just you but your personal relationships and commitments too.

Professional Risks
When you choose to expand your business, you open it up to potential business risks. These can impact your finances, customers, and employees.

That is why it is important to consider the following:

Your Business “Health”
Is Your Business Healthy enough to Sustain Growth? Making sure you really know the ins and outs of your company’s finances is essential. Do you have the capital, or will you need to borrow to fund your expansion? Have your profits continued to grow to the level where growth makes sense and are they consistent? Will the potentially altered timing of money in and money out create too much of a financial strain?

Your Clients and Customers
Are you able to keep your current customer service up to par during the expansion? Will the increased demand on your time cause your customer service to go downhill? Without attention to this potential problem, your customers may begin to feel neglected.

Your Employees
Are you and your workforce up to the challenge? Do you have the necessary manpower to cover the expansion or would you need to hire? If you need to hire, will you consider temp or seasonal hires instead of committing to full-time ones?

Change is hard. You may find that your employees are uncertain or even fearful about the expansion. They may not even have the skills necessary to be successful during this transition. Growing your business can put a strain on your existing workforce that you have not foreseen.

So, before you commit to the expansion, it is essential that you dig deep and be completely honest with yourself about your company’s strengths and weaknesses.

Taking the time now to identify and understand the personal and professional risks associated with expanding your business, and whether you and you company is ready for them, makes you better informed on whether it is the right time to proceed. It also gives you the opportunity to come up with solutions to solve, or at least mitigate, these risks.

However, it is important to remember that while there are risks in deciding to grow your business, there are also great rewards.

Expanding your business brings the potential for greater revenue, a larger voice in your market, and the personal and professional satisfaction of taking your business to the next level. It can give you a pride of accomplishment that is hard to match.

The key is to go in with your eyes wide open.

Only after understanding the risks and rewards can you then think about going forward with your business expansion plan ~ and taking these steps will help!

Before You Begin:

Consider consulting an intellectual property attorney
Make sure your tagline and brand are trademarked and that any patents and / or copyrights are in place.

Develop a Detailed and Precise plan
Decide what kind of business growth makes sense for you and your company and what you need to do to get there.

Here are 5 options you should consider:

DiversifyYou could add to your existing products or services, or choose to offer something completely new. Just make sure whatever you do is in line with your brand and your business goals.

Target New MarketsWhile you are currently having success with the market(s) you now serve, it might be time to consider something new. Focusing on a completely new market can give you just the growth push your company needs.

Buy, Merge, or Partner with another BusinessWhen you buy, merge, or partner with another business, you are immediately pooling your resources, services, and your markets. This grows your customer base and your collective skills and experience.

Open Another LocationThis can be risky but, if done right, can yield great rewards. It is important that you first consider the additional costs involved in acquiring the new location and the additional employees needed to run it.

Increase Your Social Media PresenceThis can be a great “first step” for many businesses looking to grow and expand. Having a broader online presence can get you noticed and help you build credibility and recognition.

Learn more about how these tips can work for you in “
5 Steps to Help You Grow Your Business”.

No matter what you choose, the key is to pick the business growth options that work for you and your business. Focus on the ones that take into consideration both the risks and rewards that make sense.

There is no doubt that Growth and Expansion are ultimate goals for most business owners and entrepreneurs. But you must not go in blindly.

Taking the time to ask yourself the hard questions, being honest with yourself about the risks, and ready with solutions to potential problems will go a long way towards making your quest to grow your business successful.

Tips to Help You Breathe New Life into Your Business

Every business gets in a rut.

Over the years, you may find yourself doing things the same way. You offer the same services or products. You use, or don't use, social media to your best advantage when marketing and branding your business. Generally, you are running your business the same way you have since you started.

But will operating under the Status Quo get you where you want to be?

Doing things the same way, over and over, does a disservice to you, your employees, and your customers!

You will most likely find yourself becoming complacent, disinterested, and even downright bored, with your business. You have lost the energy and passion that drove you to become an entrepreneur in the first place.

Soon your employees and customers will feel it too.

That is no way to run a business!

Is it time to Breathe New Life into Your Business? "Tweet This"

Instead of accepting it, this is exactly the time you need to breathe new life into your business!

What you need now are some tips and a plan
to get you started!

The key is to discover a way that will not only bring the excitement back to you and your business, but will also attract and keep the clients you need!

I believe that the best tip is to start with you! Your attitude towards your business can make all the difference on how your brand is received.

Start by focusing on "Why" you do what you do.

Remembering, or even recognizing for the first time, what it is about your business that drives you is key.

The understanding of how your business speaks to your inner core will help you establish your brand and reach the perfect customers for your business.

Read about my journey towards discovering my "Why", and how you can do it too, in "I Know Why I Do What I Do"!

Now it's time to Get the Spark Back!

Once you reconnect with the driving force behind your business,
it is much easier to brain storm
on the different ways to get out of your rut
and present a fresh face to the world.

Take a look at your marketing. Does it mesh with your "why" and core values? If not, it may be time for a re-brand.

Do your social sites reflect that brand? Everything from the original posts you create, the articles you share, and even color scheme you use on your sites, should present a cohesive and unique picture of you and your company. If they don't, then it is time for a change!

How about the products and services you offer? Are they inline with your current brand? Do they truly solve your customers' wants and needs? If not, re-evaluate them now!

Remove any that no longer stack up. Re-vamp others that may be a bit behind the times. Doing this will help your company become more exciting and relevant.

However, my best tip of all for giving your business the jumpstart it needs is to launch an entirely New Product or Service!

The benefits to your company include:
  • Keeping Your Business Fresh and Current
  • Helping You Get Past the Slow Times
  • Reawakening Your Interest and Passion for Your Business
  • Solving a New or Existing Customer's Problems or Needs
  • Attracting new Interest in Your Company

Do You Know What You are Truly Thankful For?

Created by Kim Kline, API

The holidays make many of us reflective. We look back on what has already happened, and dream about what is still to come.

We also take the time to really appreciate the people around us who make our lives worthwhile.

And that is just as true for Small Business owners.
We all know what it has taken us to get where we are, and the many people along the way who have encouraged, supported, and guided us in achieving our goals.

The truth is……
No one achieves Success completely Alone!

So in the spirit of the season, we are sharing the people and things that we are truly thankful for!

Do You Know What You are Truly Thankful For?  “Tweet This”

First and foremost, I am grateful for my family.
They have always been supportive and loving. They keep me as close to “sane” as I can possibly be and their sense of humor often makes even bad days so much better.

And my husband is at the top of my list! He always believes in me ~ even when I am having a hard time believing in myself. I will forever be thankful to him for this!

My family is also my rock whenever things go crazy. Without them, I never could have survived all that life has thrown at me. Personal obstacles like breast cancer, major back surgery, and the death of my father were only manageable because of them.

The same goes for the trials of starting and running a small business! From the beginning, even when I had partners, my family was in my corner. And when I decided to go it completely alone, they were there for me more than ever before.

They are the reason why I get up each morning and try to do my best every day. My family keeps my inner light glowing with purpose and love.

Created by Kim Kline, API

And my children are why I believe in the future.
They are mindful of the people and world around them. They are caring and empathetic. And they are fiercely loyal.

Through them, and their own loved ones and friends, I see what is great about our country and our world. They make me believe that there are good things to come.

I am also truly thankful for my friends ~ both those I know in person and the ones I only “know” online.
I am lucky enough be surrounded by a great group of friends who I can share laughs with and who have been there for me.

Then there are others who I have connected with mainly through my business. These business friends are no less important.

All are good people ~ and I value them.

Next, I am thankful for my business.

I cherish the freedom to steer it in any direction I choose. I also know how lucky I am to be doing what I love ~ and how grateful I am that it is in the service of others.

I love having the opportunity to use my business to pay it forward. Helping others achieve their own success is a great feeling. Whether it is working with them to find their best hire, or mentoring them in starting their own small business, I am thankful for the opportunity to make a difference.

Created by Kim Kline, API

While there are surely more things I am thankful for that I can add to the list, it is these that I appreciate the most, each and every day. They make me grateful for the life I have now and the one to come.

What are You Thankful For? Please Share them in the comment section below!

The Quickest and Easiest Way to Revitalize Your Business

Tips to Help You Revitalize a Stagnant Business
There are times when your business may need a "jumpstart", something to get the interest and excitement flowing again.
Maybe it's because your business has been shut down or restricted due to outside conditions (COVID-19 anyone?) or maybe simply because you or what you offer is in a rut?
But no matter what the case, when you have a small business, it is easy to get complacent and bogged down in the seemingly endless responsibilities of running your own business.
Things like paying bills, managing employees, and all the other things it takes to get through the day, can be daunting. You can find yourself burnt out or in a rut. But that is not good for you or your company!

In order to really succeed and grow, you need to be willing to embrace change and strive for innovation. You need to find a way to revitalize your Business! And the quickest and easiest way to do it is to Launch a new product or service!

Adding a new product or service to your business is a great way to propel your company in the right direction. When done right, it can bring a new interest and energy to your entire company.

5 Benefits of Adding
a New Product or Service to
Your Small Business
  1. Keeps your Company Fresh and Current
  2. Helps You Get Past a Lull or Slow Time
  3. Reawakens Your Interest and Passion for your Business
  4. Solves a New Customer Need or Problem
  5. Attracts New Customers and Interest in your Company
Keeps Your Company Fresh and Current
Even the best small businesses can get stagnant ~ and that is increasingly true the longer you have been in business. Staunchly holding on to only what you have done in the past does a disservice to you and your clients. Infusing your business with new and innovative ideas keeps you moving forward.

Helps You Get Past a Lull or Slow Time
Many businesses go through periods when their sales are slow. Adding something new can help infuse your company with a new source of cash.

Reawakens Your Interest and Passion for Your Business
Even business owners can get bored or complacent. Developing a new product or service can be just the thing to get your mojo going like it did when you first started. Brainstorming sessions and the excitement of the launch may be just what you need.

Solves a New Customer Need or Problem
The best products or services stem from solving your clients’ problems. Tap into the good relationship you have with your existing customers to find out what they need ~ and then figure out what you can do to help. The answer can lead to the perfect new product or service for your company!

Attracts New Customers and Interest in Your Company
Chances are that there are others out there who have the same problems and needs as your current clients. Offering a new product that solves that problem will attract those potential new customers. These customers may not have even known about your company before, but now you will be on their radar.
The lure of these benefits
will tempt you to jump right in
and get your product on the market.
But this is when you need to put on the brakes ~ at least for a little while!
Take time to do some research and reflection before you go public.
4 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Launching a New Product “Tweet This”

Kimberly Kline, API
The perfect place to start is by asking yourself 4 vital questions ~
  1. Does it tie in with your company brand?
  2. Does it help you achieve your goals?
  3. How will your new product fit in with your existing ones?
  4. How will you market this new product?
Remember, your company brand is important! It takes time to build trust in the products and services you provide. But very little time to lose it.

That is why making sure that your new product closely matches the brand and goals you have established is vital. Now is not the time to offer something that is contrary to that image.

Fit should also be considered. Is this new service compatible or complementary to what you now offer? You may even consider dropping one or more of your current products that are no longer performing or relevant.

Instead of starting from scratch, another option is to revamp one of your existing products or services. The key is to keep in mind current need. Sometimes all it takes to generate new interest is to tweak what you already offer.

Marketing this new product should also be addressed. You will obviously want to inform your existing customers of your new addition. Giving them a sneak preview and even a special “before official launch” deal is a great way to start.

But you will also have to consider how to garner the interest of new clients. Preparing eye catching and informative posts for your social sites will surely be part of your strategy.

If you have a blog, then you will also want to create at least one article focused on your new product. This is the perfect opportunity to go into more depth and really share the problem or need your product addresses.
How to Launch a New Product or Service
If you don't blog for your business, this might be the time to start! Blogging will help you keep your passion and focus fresh ~ and it is also a great way to help your clients solve their biggest problems!

To learn more about how blogging can help your business, check out “Are You Afraid of Starting Your Small Business Blog?  I can Help!”.
Only after you have
asked and answered these four questions,
is it finally the right time to launch!
And you will now have taken the quickest and easiest step to help revitalize your business!

“Concrete” Steps to Help Me Reach My Goals!

Many people look at the start of a new year as a time to make resolutions.  They want to lose weight, get a better job....any number of things they believe will make their lives better.

I do things a little differently.

Since the holidays are such a busy time for me, and I want to devote as much of it to my family as possible, I always take the first week or two of a new year to reflect.  That is when I take a good, hard look at where I am and where I want to go.

This year, after much thought, I am focusing my efforts on my professional life.  I have decided on some concrete, specific goals that will get me where I want to be with my business.

And I believe these Small Business Tips will help you too!

5 Steps to Help You Grow Your Small Business!  "Tweet This"

My 5 Step Plan

  • Social Media Connections
My goal is to make one “meaningful” connection on my social media networks each week.  What is important is that I do not use the word “meaningful” lightly.

These new connections will be ones where I work to develop a great reciprocal relationship.  I will look to them as sources for posts I share and also be there for them if they need information I can offer.

  • Website
I admit I have been lax with my website.  For the past year I have focused my efforts more on my blog and even on some of my social media sites.  Now it is time to take my website up a notch.

My plan is to make it less “static” and more interesting.  To achieve this I will add new content at least a couple times a month.  I will also include more visual appeal with pictures, info-graphics, and possibly video.

Update:  I decided it worked best for me to make my blog my website.  While this is certainly not for everyone, it made sense for me.  My blog is continually updated which makes for a much fresher site (which is completely in line with my goal).

  • Guest Blogging
This year I plan on making a stronger effort to not only share the articles of others on my blog but to put myself out there and share my own.  Last year I began a reciprocal relationship with one blog.  Every other month I either use of of their articles or they use one of mine.

This has worked out wonderfully.  It gives me a “break” from my own writing, while in turn getting my thoughts out to a completely different audience.  I want to do this on a bigger scale this year.

I love the idea of Guest Blogging as it completely falls in with my desire to “pay it forward” and promote other small businesses.

Update:  I, along with a partner, are starting a new "Blogging Mastermind" group that will definitely fast-track my guest and collaborative blogging efforts!

  • Networking
I stepped into networking in a small way last year when I began attending informational lunches with local business owners.  While this group held monthly meetings, I only managed to attend sporadically.  I am hoping to remedy that this year.

I found the people I met in this group to be very giving, helpful, and interesting.  I think it is important for me to become more involved with them.  My goal is to volunteer to present at one of their meetings.

Update:  I did it!  I formally joined this networking group and have attended many more meetings.  I also presented with a talk on Blogging for Business!

This will be a step towards increasing my networking and accomplishing my final goal.....

  • Making My Business Less “Scary” to Small Business Owners
I have found that there are misconceptions about the employment background check business (I have addressed many of these in previous articles you can find in my website) .  The biggest problem I encounter is the misconception that what I do is an “invasion of privacy” and that my reports keep many job seekers  from getting hired.

Through sharing upfront and transparent blog articles and social media posts, along with my participation in online and real life groups, my goal is to dispel these beliefs.  I want to let people know exactly what I do and why.  It is most important to me that they see that what I do is an important part of the hiring process and especially how I can be a partner, not an adversary, in it.

This is my plan for the coming year.  Each of these goals are things that will really help my business grow to the next level.  It will be hard work, but I know that I and my business are worth it.

However, goals do not have to be fixed and “concrete”.  Instead, throughout the year, mine will most likely be in a continual state of flux.  I will focus on what works, discard what doesn’t, and move on from there.

What will be more “concrete” are the steps I take to accomplish them.  Goals without plans to achieve them rarely amount to much.

I think I am on the right track this year.....are you?

Please Pay it Forward and Share this on your favorite social sites!  Thanks!

Cherry Blossoms and Rebirth - Our Fascination with New Beginnings!

accessprofilesblog.com

It is Spring and I am once again focusing on starting anew.  There have been many changes in my personal and professional life in the past year.  Each has me thinking about how "new beginnings" are what make life miraculous.......

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”     Albert Einstein

I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit the Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C on numerous occasions - and it never grows old!

Each time I am awestruck by their beauty.  Judging by the amount of people that make the trek, I am not alone.

However, I believe that it is not just their beauty that makes the cherry blossoms such a draw.  I think it is also the feeling of renewal and a “fresh start” that captivate!

The truth is, being confronted by possibilities is intoxicating. There is a sense of euphoria that comes from knowing something new is possible.

I propose that this feeling is addictive!

In my personal life, each time I visit a new city or someone in my family is graduating or getting married, I am able to feel a resurgence of anticipation and excitement.

My children are also a constant source of new beginnings.  The knowledge that so much is on the horizon for them fills me with a sense of wonder.

Professionally, starting my own business has been the greatest adventure.  Anyone who has ever done the same knows exactly what I mean.  Launching your own company is  filled with “firsts”. It is an obvious and natural time to feel anticipation and excitement.

That feeling is a little harder to replicate as the years go on.  But I do not believe it is impossible.

It think you can capture that feeling on a regular basis if you are open to it.  Being willing to take a new approach to an old problem or venturing out in a new direction can help cultivate that feeling of renewal.

Spring is the Perfect Time to Rekindle Your “Fresh Start”! "Tweet This"

The year is fully underway and the busyness that comes at the beginning of a new year has settled.

I think this is the ideal time to look for renewed inspiration in your business and in your life.  Inspiration is all around you.  The welcome bloom of the trees and the emergence of the first daffodils and crocuses - each serve as a reminder that rebirth is possible.

I challenge you to find your own inspiration.  My yearly visit to the cherry blossoms is one of mine.  What is yours?

Please Share this and Spread the Word!  Thanks!

Thinking of making Changes in Your Small Business? Be Sure to Keep Your Core Values in Mind!

#SmallBiz #BusinessGrowth

"Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights."  ~Pauline R. Kezer

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to visit Savannah, GA.  I was inspired by the city’s ability to meld the old and the new.

Everywhere you look you can see evidence of Savannah’s rich history.  According to Savannah tourism guides, 22 of the original 24 “squares” have been preserved throughout the city and are an integral part of downtown Savannah life.

However, Savannah is anything but backward.  Modern conveniences thrive alongside historic cobblestone streets and monuments.  In one of Savannah’s most popular restaurants, The Olde Pink House, the building itself dates back to 1789 but the kitchens are updated and air conditioning is added for the comfort of diners.

This concept of preservation and progress got me thinking about how it could be used in my own life and business.  The need to move forward at all costs needs to be tempered by the idea of keeping what works.

My call.......keep what is important and only embrace changes that enhance and complement your core values.

Before making Changes in Your Small Business,  Keep Your Core Values in Mind!  "Tweet This"

It is important not to change the fundamentals.  These fundamentals are the foundation upon which you built your company.  They are your core purpose and goals.

Therefore, it is not simply out with the old and in with the new. Integration between the two is what really leads to success.  To achieve this goal, many companies are returning to “real person” customer service over automated systems.  While automation was seen as “progress”, companies are realizing that their fundamental desire to provide personal customer service suffers.

It is important to realize;  “All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward”.  ~Ellen Glasgow

Making changes can actually move your company “backward” if they are not in line with your foundation or core.

While I fully believe that progress and change are great goals, preserving some traditions are equally as important.  Change should come about only when that change stays in line with your core values and beliefs.

The ability to blend the old with the new is what intrigues me. As I observed in the city of Savannah, it is not only possible, it works!

Please Pay it Forward and Share this article on Your Favorite Social Sites!  And please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you!

How to Hire “Fresh” Talent without a Long Term Commitment!

Attention Small Business Owners ~ Hiring "short term" employees is a great way to test the waters.  Find out how....

If your company is in need of help, but you are not ready to make a permanent hire, consider Hiring Interns or Temps!

Both can inject some new energy into your business and ease the work load on your existing employees.

Temps & Interns ~ Perfect Way to Inject Fresh Talent into Your Small Business!  "Tweet This"!

But as with anything there are definite “pros” and “cons” in hiring both interns and temp workers.

The "Pros" & "Cons" in Hiring Interns

The "Pros" in Hiring an Intern:
  • Increase Company Productivity Without a Large Dent in Your Budget  - Hiring interns is relatively low-cost. It can also help you meet peak or seasonal needs without a long-term commitment.
  • Provide A Different, “Younger”,  Perspective - Interns can bring enthusiasm and eagerness to your company. They come with a “young” and fresh mindset that can re-energize your operations.
  • Practice “Paying it Forward” -  Interns provide an opportunity for promising employees to develop their supervisory skills. It allows them to take on a “mentor” role and gain valuable experience in leadership skills.
  • Establish a Possible Link to a Future Hire - An intern will become fully trained to the operations and culture of your company. This will make them significantly more qualified for a future open position than the majority of candidates who may apply.
The Possible “Cons” in Hiring an Intern:
  • The Time Required to Bring them “up to speed” - In some instances, interns may be unable to jump right in where needed. A certain amount of training in your company procedures and goals will be necessary. This can create a burden on existing employees.
  • Limited Experience - Interns typically have little “real work” experience and are unfamiliar with an office environment. They also have less past business information from which to draw.

Hiring Temporary Workers is also a great option for a business needing additional help.  Choosing to hire temps also brings its own set of pros and cons.

The "Pros" & "Cons" in Hiring Temps

The "Pros" in Hiring Temp Workers:
  • Eliminates the Need to Provide Training and Benefits - The costs associated with hiring an in-house employee is always higher than the cost of an outside Temp Worker. This is the main reason most businesses opt to hire temps for “non-core” functions.
  • Lessens the Workload on Existing Employees - Temp workers free them to concentrate on other, possibly more important, projects.
  • Provides Your Company with an “Expert” in a Specific Field - Many Temporary service providers build up their “inventory” with workers having specialized skills. By hiring a temp agency, your company has access to those talents.
  • Allows You More Flexibility - Your employ of a temp worker is often “at will” (based on your contract with the temp agency). It is generally much easer to replace or fire the temp employee than it is a traditional employee.
  • Helps Your Business Adjust More Quickly to Market and Workload Fluctuations - It is possible to fill a needed position much more quickly than you can ever do when hiring a long-term employee.
The “Cons” in Hiring Temp Workers:
  • Lack of Company Knowledge - An in-house employee will always have a better understanding of the “ins and outs” of a position and of your company.
  • Less “Loyalty” or Commitment to Your Company - No temporary employee will have the same vested interest in your company as a full-time employee. The feeling of being in it as a “team” is harder to create.
Small Business Hiring
Despite the possible problems of hiring interns and temporary employees, the “pros” more often outweigh the “cons”.

If you have decided that hiring an intern or temp is for you, these tips will help you find the quality hires you need.

A great way to find quality interns is to form a relationship with local universities and trade schools. Contact their placement office, department heads, or grad school program. Do this in advance of ever needing your first intern. The better you cultivate this relationship, the more likely you are to get quality interns when the time comes.

You can also use this method for finding a good temp agency. Make sure to be clear with the agency about the skills and type of worker you will be looking for. The more concise you are, the more likely the agency will be to refer someone that will be a good fit.

It is also possible to find companies and individuals to fill your needs through social media groups and connections. Look for people you find yourself seeking advice from or who offer quality information in your groups. These are your “go to” people and can make for a great source.

Just make sure to screen these hires as you would any full-time employee (read our blog article on this subject here).

Over the course of owning a business, it is possible to experience many fluctuations in market demand and personnel needs
Being prepared and willing to hire interns or short-term employees can help you meet, and even exceed, these demands.
What have you got to lose?  After all, it is only “temporary”!
